1. How do I sign up?

    Go to IfMine.com and enter your email address in the box provided. When approved, you will receive an email to register for the site. Click on the link and set up an account by creating a username and password.

  2. How do I change my photo, name, biography or password?

    You can change your photo, name and biography on you profile page. Click on the element you want to edit and hit save when you're finished.

    Go to the Account page, the gear located in the upper right corner, to change your password or email address.

  3. How do I create a project?

    Click Create New + on the navigation bar to start a new project. You will need to name your project and add a body. You may also add tags, a cover photo or invite people to join your project. When finished click the save button to see your project. Any of this information can be edited later.

  4. Can I make my project Public or Private?

    You have the option to make your project Public, Restricted or Private:

    • Public: Any user on ^IfMine can view or follow your project and make comments. Your project may appear on the Explore page.
    • Restricted: Only users who accept your invite to become a Mentor or Collaborator can view and comment on this project. Collaborators can also Edit or Evolve your project.
    • Private: Only you can see this project.
  5. How do I invite Mentors or Collaborators?

    When creating a new project, you are able to invite people to your project by entering their email address or begin typing their ^IfMine username in the Invite People dialog box. Select the correct users that appear in the dropdown menu. Users must first accept your invitation to become a Mentor or Collaborator on the project before it’s official.

    You can also create a group of people for quick access on future projects. First, select the people you would like to be Mentors or Collaborators on the project. Then click the Create Group button and give this group a title. The next time you’d like to add this group to a project, simply type the group name and select it from the dropdown menu.

    You may also invite people to a project at a later time by clicking the Edit button on the project screen.

  6. What is the difference between a Mentor and Collaborator?

    A Mentor is a person who gives valuable feedback to guide the development and success of a project. A Collaborator contributes to a project and is able to edit the body, add photos or documents and Evolve the project as it progresses.

  7. Can I have more than one Mentor for a project?

    Yes, you may have one or more Mentors for each project.

  8. Can I remove a Mentor or Collaborator from a project?

    Yes, you can remove a Mentor or Collaborator from a project at any time. Go to the project and click the Edit button. In the Invite People dialog box, hover over the profile photo of the person you wish to remove and click the X.

  9. How do I share a project?

    If your project is Public, use the URL to share your project. We are planning to integrate social features in the near future.

  10. When someone comments on my project, will I receive an email notification?

    Not at this time. You will see a collection of comments on all your projects on your home page. To get to the home page, click the ^IfMine logo on the left of the navigation bar.

    We are currently working on a notification system that will alert you by email.

  11. How do I Evolve a project?

    Click the Evolve It button to move your project to a new stage of development. Comments from the previous Evolution will stay with that Evolution. Mentors, Collaborators and Followers will stay with the project during each Evolution.

  12. How do I report a bug?

    If you have a technical issue, click the Provide Feedback button at the bottom of the page, fill out the form provided and choose the Bug Report option.

  13. How does ^IfMine protect my copyrights?

    When you start a new project on ^IfMine, the date and time are recorded to provide proof of our project's creation date. In the event there is a dispute about the original source, the registered date on ^IfMine provides the third-party proof needed to protect your digital work.
